The times when God seems far away.
God, Sometimes I wonder where You are.
I see You dimly like a distant star,
Faintly flickering far away,
As the dead of darkness fades to day.
But Yahweh, I know that You are there
Even when Your glimmer is not a glare.
Sometimes a flicker is just enough
To span the space of life’s deepest gulf.
Whenever I feel the vastness pull
My heart until my vision’s dull,
I know Your hand will hold me fast;
Nothing can keep me from Your grasp.
No distance, nor darkness can wrench me free
From the light of Your love that illumines me.
So whenever I wonder where You are,
By faith, I feel You are not very far.
