A poetic defiance of gun control.
We hear the lobbyist cry for gun-control.
Their liberal hands would restrain our guns.
They’d take them out of good folks hands
And by that evil we’ll be undone.
They say, “ The babies have no fathers.”
“See the mothers with empty arms.”
But what of the wife raped at gun-point
Because her husband carried no side-arm?
The law-abiding citizens
Don’t commit those heinous crimes;
But the illegal guns of predators
Leave torment and death behind.
Thieves, rapists, and murderers
Wield our guns in their hands.
God forbid a door be left unlocked
in this God-forsaken land.
Criminals don’t buy them legal
Yet, they’ll have their weapons still.
While the respectful of law and order
Must give ours up against our will.
What of our right “to keep and bear arms”
That those we love we might protect
From the evil ones who mean us harm?
Yet, it is ours they would collect!
Crime runs rampant in a world
Where murderers are hardly penalized.
And justice will never prevail
Where good citizens are all but criminalized.
