Counselors’ Corner

Well, November is here and we’ve just had one of the most important elections in a very long time.  I am heartbroken over the results of the battle for life on initiative 26.  I can only say that we need to get on our knees and repent. According to Psalms 139 and Jeremiah 1, we are created, chosen and called even before God formed us in the womb.  We have no excuse before God for not passing this initiative other than our own selfishness and the greed of the Planned (Un)Parenthood business.  And that’s not a legitimate excuse.  We need to be saving babies lives, not killing them.  Even if a young girl is raped and impregnated, it is God who is the creator of life.  If she is so young, her life is endangered, then this would fall in the category of a killing in self-defense. And if a young girl is brought in for a medical abortion, then DNA should be saved to find the father of that child and he should be put in jail. Planned Parenthood only reported one case of an underage child being raped in several years. They have been sending the girls back to their abusers and covering these cases up. And if a woman suffers an ectopic pregnancy, it would be considered justifiable.  I don’t believe that God would condemn anyone as guilty in these circumstances if they have done everything they possible can to prevent these occurrences from happening in the first place.  Now if a woman has an ectopic pregnancy as a result of an STD from an illicit relationship, then that would be another matter.  But these kinds of occurrences happen so infrequently, that we cannot continue to allow innocent lives to be killed for the convenience of selfish mothers who would serve their own best interests rather than her child’s. Abortion should be rare and only when a mother’s life is clearly at risk for physical reasons, not psychological ones.  No one is going to die because they are in distress over a pregnancy, and neither should a child!  I was once in a predicament myself, when I was going through domestic violence.  I had two young children and was pregnant with my third at the time.  I was really distraught about bringing another child into an already abusive situation and prayed for God to take my child.  I would never have aborted it, but God heard my prayer and I lost my baby.  I suffered through many years of guilt over that prayer and learned that you better be careful what you pray for, because you just might get what you asked for.  I can only imagine the guilt a woman might feel if she actually killed her baby voluntarily.  Statistics show that abortions are clearly linked to depression and other psychological disturbances.  It has also been linked to breast cancer, but these links are denied by Planned (Un)Parenthood and others who are protecting their cash flow.  Abortion kills babies and destroys mothers’ lives.

Well enough of that. Back when I did my bike-a-thon I received my very first donation to my ministry.  I gave half of that donation in a church offering as a first fruits offering to God.  Well, since that time God has truly blessed my ministry.  Our Website just reached 10,000 views last week.  Also I found a self-defense quiz on-line and added it to the website.  I sent off to the company for their DVD sample for $2 and emailed them to ask if they thought this training would be good for victims of sexual and domestic violence.  A lady emailed me back and said that she thought it would be great for us.  When I told her about my ministry efforts, she said that she would look into their warehouse to see if she could find us any freebies.  I didn’t think much of it, and told her that would be great if she did.  I expected something insignificant, at best.  But a few days ago, I received two boxes in the mail.  When I opened them up, I found that they had sent me the whole self-defense seminar on DVD, plus the training manuals, and the book to go with it.  Needless to say, I want to use what God has blessed us with, so if anyone would like to help me plan and put on a self-defense seminar for this ministry, then please let me know as soon as possible.  We just need a place with a TV and DVD player and a little space.  A fair sized living room would do fine.

My garden is doing well this year. My greens are growing, we’ve gotten a few beans, and are starting to get some peas now.  I’ve been trying to plant peas in the spring but they kept dying on me as soon as it turned hot. So when I got my Gardening in Mississippi book, I found out they do better in the fall down here.  I tried that and it seems to be working.  I still have a few squash and tomato plants that I have covered up for the cold front coming in the next few days, but we’ll see if they make it or not.  I’ve been adding compost as I can, but there’s just not enough to go around just yet.  But my soil is slowly improving and hopefully it will get better each year.  I’m learning as I go, so it’s a working experiment.  I just transplanted two baby blueberry bushes, so I hope they do well.  I just need a peach, apple, or pear tree.  Maybe I can find an affordable one in the spring.  I hope so.  That’s on my wish list.

About mamaheartfilled

I am a mother of eight wonderfully challenging children and nine grandkids, of whom I am very proud. I am also a bi-vocational ordained evangelical minister, and a Christian Counselor. I received my B.S. degree in 2004, studying primarily in the areas of Psychology, with minors in Religion and English. I received my Masters Degree in 2009 in Psychological Counseling with an emphasis in Christian Counseling. I have endeavored to paraphrase the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, for the last ten years or so and am working on a final edit, now. It is my hope that it will be of some use in the great commission of Christ. My ministry is primarily geared toward victims of sexual and domestic violence, including victims of childhood sexual abuse, whether currently or in the past. Since I have personally experienced the healing hand of God in overcoming many of the life issues that Christians may face, I feel qualified and compelled to discuss them in a truthful and open manner, as God’s word tells us that “We shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free.” God has brought me through such diverse tribulations as sexual, physical, and mental abuse, being a victim of a drunk driving accident, spousal pornography addiction, adultery, divorce, remarriage, a very brief, though unjust, incarceration, and having experienced multiple miscarriages and various other trials. I have been asked to leave two Southern Baptist Churches, due to my being a female, ordained as a minister, and fired from a SBC sponsored Christian School (mostly white) for speaking out against racial prejudice in the Family of God. Through God’s merciful forgiveness of my own sins and inadequacies and God’s grace given to me to forgive those who have been a stumbling block to me, I have overcome many of these adversities. God’s word tells us that “All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to the purposes of God." Since I have this hope, I believe that God has blessed me with the ability to confront and relate these issues to the Christian community around the world. I hope to be able to use my personal experiences as a ministry of God’s grace and in the comforting of the people of God with the truth of God's mercy. I claim II Corinthians 1: 3 & 4 as my calling, which states: “Blessed be God, the Origin of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Origin of mercies, and the God of comfort; who comforts us in all our troubles, that we may be able to comfort those who are in trouble, by the comfort we ourselves have been given by God.” As I have received the gift of God’s healing, I hope to be able to bring the peace beyond understanding to others with the message of God’s mercy and grace. My love for the Sovereign Lord of my life, Jesus Christ, along with my passion for writing has drawn me to explore these commonly experienced crisis issues from the perspective of my own experience in the hope that I may bring an empathetic and compassionate insight to God’s people. I am now a published author and have several books in publication, including my autobiography, "A Little Redneck Theology." The views expressed in my writings are strictly my own insights, acquired from personal experience and diligent study of the related topics and God’s word concerning them. Though I am an ordained minister, my views should not be considered authoritative. I believe that the Christian community’s ultimate authority is the guidance of the human heart by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
