Seven Year Old Raped and Murdered by Maintenance Man

“But whoever hurts one of these little ones who believe in Me and causes them to loose faith, it would be better for that person to have a large stone hung around their neck, and be drowned in the sea.

But whoever hurts the faith of one of these little ones who believe in Me, it would better for that person to be dropped in the sea with a weight around their neck and be put to death. Mathew 18

A 7-year-old north Georgia girl was abducted and killed by the maintenance man at an apartment complex who left her body in a trash bin. Ryan Brunn, who lived and worked at the apartment complex, was taken into custody Wednesday on a murder warrant, said Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Vernon Keenan. Jorelys Rivera was last seen Friday evening leaving the playground to walk back home. Brunn was believed to have taken her to an empty apartment in the complex, where she was sexually assaulted, stabbed and beaten to death. Brunn, who has no known criminal record, had keys to both the empty apartment and the trash compactor bin where Rivera’s body was placed.

Rivera’s body was found three days after she disappeared. Investigators said they received numerous tips and that some important evidence had come from apartment complex residents. They also interviewed several other sex offenders living at the complex. Officials do not believe those sex offenders were involved in this case. After the murder, children who previously had no adult supervision, had adults accompany them to the bus stop and play ground, one resident said.

This follows a case of a nine year old who was recently raped and murdered at another apartment complex.  If we can learn anything from these two cases, which cost two young girls their lives, it’s that we as adults are responsible for keeping our children safe.  If we let our children play in areas where they are unsupervised, it can be a deadly mistake.  Parents can take shifts and supervise their children while at play or going to and from the bus stop to help keep them safe.  If you have at least five to six adults, that’s only one day a week.  That’s not too much to ask.

Sexual abuse of a child is a crime that must be reported by law.  If you know or even suspect that a child is being abused, you must report it.  Our children are depending on us.  The National Child Abuse Hotline # is 1-800-252-2873, 1-800-25ABUSE

About mamaheartfilled

I am a mother of eight wonderfully challenging children and fourteen grandkids, of whom I am very proud. I am also a bi-vocational ordained evangelical minister, and a Christian Counselor. I received my B.S. degree in 2004, studying primarily in the areas of Psychology, with minors in Religion and English. I received my Masters Degree in 2009 in Psychological Counseling with an emphasis in Christian Counseling. I have endeavored to paraphrase the Bible, both Old and New Testaments. It is my hope that it will be of some use in the great commission of Christ. My ministry is primarily geared toward victims of sexual and domestic violence, including victims of childhood sexual abuse, whether currently or in the past. Since I have personally experienced the healing hand of God in overcoming many of the life issues that Christians may face, I feel qualified and compelled to discuss them in a truthful and open manner, as God’s word tells us that “We shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free.” God has brought me through such diverse tribulations as sexual, physical, and mental abuse, being a victim of a drunk driving accident, spousal pornography addiction, adultery, divorce, remarriage, a very brief, though unjust, incarceration, and having experienced multiple miscarriages and various other trials. I have been asked to leave two Southern Baptist Churches, due to my being a female, ordained as a minister, and fired from a SBC sponsored Christian School (mostly white) for speaking out against racial prejudice in the Family of God. Through God’s merciful forgiveness of my own sins and inadequacies and God’s grace given to me to forgive those who have been a stumbling block to me, I have overcome many of these adversities. God’s word tells us that “All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to the purposes of God." Since I have this hope, I believe that God has blessed me with the ability to confront and relate these issues to the Christian community around the world. I hope to be able to use my personal experiences as a ministry of God’s grace and in the comforting of the people of God with the truth of God's mercy. I claim II Corinthians 1: 3 & 4 as my calling, which states: “Blessed be God, the Origin of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Origin of mercies, and the God of comfort; who comforts us in all our troubles, that we may be able to comfort those who are in trouble, by the comfort we ourselves have been given by God.” As I have received the gift of God’s healing, I hope to be able to bring the peace beyond understanding to others with the message of God’s mercy and grace. My love for the Sovereign Lord of my life, Jesus Christ, along with my passion for writing has drawn me to explore these commonly experienced crisis issues from the perspective of my own experience in the hope that I may bring an empathetic and compassionate insight to God’s people. I am now a published author and have several books in publication, including my autobiography, "A Little Redneck Theology." The views expressed in my writings are strictly my own insights, acquired from personal experience and diligent study of the related topics and God’s word concerning them. Though I am an ordained minister, my views should not be considered authoritative. I believe that the Christian community’s ultimate authority is the guidance of the human heart by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

  4. I hope they are telling the truth about this boy and what led up to his murderous rage. I’ve read many articles that link him to profiles of killers of the past. This is a new world and a new age in which we live. If they go by the old guidelines-which are still true today-and miss any new influence, more will suffer.

It sounds like he liked to drink and smoke pot. That’s an oldie. Everyone said he was quite and polite. An oldie, too. But, calculated murder of this particular child? He would have had to have contact with her before I’d think. Or, would it have been anyone passing his way? Even a grown person?

His family describes him differently than those in the apartment complex where he’d only been working a short while. How much of their descriptions are brought on by hysteria and media?

Why would he use both a blunt object and also stab her? After she was tied and gagged, or before? She’s so little and couldn’t have put up much of a fight.

I’ve seen several things on the internet that suggest to me that this is quickly becoming part of our society. I’ve seen artwork depicting women decomposing while still alive. Yet, others try to make it into a political statement-women’s rights, gun ownership,self-defense (taught by those wanting to profit ),and of course, the old private detective services looking to profit from the coffin fly industry as well.

It just seems so, I don’t know, run of the mill. Classic movie type profile of a killer. He’s only 20. Usually they, in the past, let them kill and kill before they ever did anything.
