What is Wrong with the World?

In the last several months I’ve read the question, “What is wrong with the world” in the comment section of several articles I’ve read in the news.  It seems to be a valid question in times like these.  In the last several months since the supposed apocalypse according to the Mayan calendar, it seems as if the whole world has gone completely mad.  So what really happened in December of 2012? Some have claimed that the school shooting at Newtown, was a “child sacrifice” of sorts to pacify the gods that they believed would have destroyed us.  Note that gods with a little g is not Yahweh, the Almighty God, but demonic false gods who would demand such a sacrifice.

Since that time we have seen the Boston Bombing massacre, multiple attempts at other terrorist acts, numerous multiple murders, horrible rapes of women and children, natural disasters, and supposed industrial accidents probably due to human error and neglect all over the world!  In short the world is going to Hell in a hand basket.

So what is wrong with a world where groups of men gang up and rape women with crow bars and tree branches, where grown men get their jollies raping and torturing little children of all ages from infancy on up, and where Islamic extremists and others murder innocent people believing they will be rewarded in the afterlife with 70 virgins.  Muslims claim to revere Jesus as a prophet, and yet they ignore the words of Christ that tells us we will be as the angels in heaven, and not be given in marriage.  We will be neither male nor female and not have sexual relations in the afterlife.  Seeking to be rewarded with 70 virgins is simply serving the sensual desires of human flesh. It is certainly not serving God to murder innocent people in order to attain your own desires of sexual lust.  What is wrong, indeed, in a world like this?

God’s Word clearly answers that question.  Humanity has a fallen, sinful nature that is naturally bent toward sin and depravity, apart from the mercy and grace of God.  God’s Word teaches that as the time draws nearer for Christ’s return, that evil people will become more and more evil and depraved.  That is why we are seeing more and more of these kinds of evil actions.  It is hard enough for God’s people to keep themselves from sin with God’s help, so how can those without God keep from their sinful nature?  They can’t, and we are now seeing the worst kinds of human depravity on a regular basis.

God’s Word also teaches that natural disasters will get closer and closer together and worse and worse just like birth pangs until Christ’s return.  Every day we hear of meteors, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and tornados, sink holes, etc.  We can’t read or listen to the news without some new tragedy, whether manmade or acts of God. Many just turn it off and go on with their lives as if nothing extraordinary is happening.  Others spend sleepless nights wondering what in the world is happening to us with fears on every side.  Still others recognize it is God’s prophesied judgment on humanity for our sins and unbelief as the Scriptures teach.

One clear example of this is the fact that we now have several sexually transmitted diseases that are resistant and likely soon immune to antibiotics that are traditionally used to treat them.  There are natural laws and consequences that God put into place that can’t be thwarted forever.  God gave us a reprieve with medicine and time to repent, but now God’s judgment is immanent.  Antibiotic resistant Gonorrhea has now reached the U.S. and soon those who practice sexual sins will find themselves under God’s judgment.  We spend millions of dollars on HIV research and researching new antibiotics to fight these diseases, while God’s Word clearly teaches us how to avoid getting them.  Wait for marriage to have sex, don’t commit adultery, put fornication (sexual sin) away from you, don’t live a homosexual lifestyle, don’t practice bestiality, etc.  And every one of these preventive remedies are free of charge.  If we would only practice a healthy lifestyle, then we might spend those untold millions on feeding the world or some other worthy cause.

Christians, and in particular, ministers in the U.S., have gotten fat and lazy, myself included, and have neglected feeding God’s sheep and telling the world of God’s soon coming judgment on us for our unrepentance of sin and our unbelief.  Yes, we teach the world of God’s love, but fail to teach God’s justice, and God’s remedy for a fallen world.  We neglect the teaching of Jesus Christ coming in the flesh to save humanity from our sins.  God’s justice demands punishment of sin, so Jesus was sent in human flesh to die in our place for the punishment of our sins.  In that instant when Jesus died on the cross of Calvary, Christ made a way for humanity to be reconciled with a Holy God, but not without our repentance of sin.  There is no forgiveness without repentance or a turning away from a lifestyle of sin. God’s mercy saves us from the punishment of our sins if we repent and believe on Jesus as God’s Holy Lamb that was sacrificed in our stead. God’s remedy for a lost and dying world is perfect, free of cost, and everlasting.  We can choose to believe and accept God’s remedy, or we can choose to accept the punishment of our sins ourselves in a very real Hell, which Jesus described as everlasting torment.  God’s medicine is available for our healing, but if we don’t take it as prescribed, we are fighting a loosing battle without hope.  The choice is ours.

About mamaheartfilled

I am a mother of eight wonderfully challenging children and nine grandkids, of whom I am very proud. I am also a bi-vocational ordained evangelical minister, and a Christian Counselor. I received my B.S. degree in 2004, studying primarily in the areas of Psychology, with minors in Religion and English. I received my Masters Degree in 2009 in Psychological Counseling with an emphasis in Christian Counseling. I have endeavored to paraphrase the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, for the last ten years or so and am working on a final edit, now. It is my hope that it will be of some use in the great commission of Christ. My ministry is primarily geared toward victims of sexual and domestic violence, including victims of childhood sexual abuse, whether currently or in the past. Since I have personally experienced the healing hand of God in overcoming many of the life issues that Christians may face, I feel qualified and compelled to discuss them in a truthful and open manner, as God’s word tells us that “We shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free.” God has brought me through such diverse tribulations as sexual, physical, and mental abuse, being a victim of a drunk driving accident, spousal pornography addiction, adultery, divorce, remarriage, a very brief, though unjust, incarceration, and having experienced multiple miscarriages and various other trials. I have been asked to leave two Southern Baptist Churches, due to my being a female, ordained as a minister, and fired from a SBC sponsored Christian School (mostly white) for speaking out against racial prejudice in the Family of God. Through God’s merciful forgiveness of my own sins and inadequacies and God’s grace given to me to forgive those who have been a stumbling block to me, I have overcome many of these adversities. God’s word tells us that “All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to the purposes of God." Since I have this hope, I believe that God has blessed me with the ability to confront and relate these issues to the Christian community around the world. I hope to be able to use my personal experiences as a ministry of God’s grace and in the comforting of the people of God with the truth of God's mercy. I claim II Corinthians 1: 3 & 4 as my calling, which states: “Blessed be God, the Origin of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Origin of mercies, and the God of comfort; who comforts us in all our troubles, that we may be able to comfort those who are in trouble, by the comfort we ourselves have been given by God.” As I have received the gift of God’s healing, I hope to be able to bring the peace beyond understanding to others with the message of God’s mercy and grace. My love for the Sovereign Lord of my life, Jesus Christ, along with my passion for writing has drawn me to explore these commonly experienced crisis issues from the perspective of my own experience in the hope that I may bring an empathetic and compassionate insight to God’s people. I am now a published author and have several books in publication, including my autobiography, "A Little Redneck Theology." The views expressed in my writings are strictly my own insights, acquired from personal experience and diligent study of the related topics and God’s word concerning them. Though I am an ordained minister, my views should not be considered authoritative. I believe that the Christian community’s ultimate authority is the guidance of the human heart by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
